How SokoLive handles personal information and the choices available to you
Privacy Policy
Soko Live LLC ("SokoLive", "we", "us") operates SokoLive.Live. This policy covers personal information handled for our website, related platform services, marketplace, live and recorded streams, auctions, seller and presenter tools, and support. Soko Live LLC determines the purposes and means of platform processing. Contact legal@sokolive.live for privacy questions or rights requests; general support is available at help@sokolive.live.
A marketplace seller may separately control information received to fulfil your order or meet its own legal duties. Payment, identity and social-login providers may also process information under their own notices. Their separate responsibilities do not remove ours. This policy is a notice of our practices and commitments, not a request for blanket consent to all processing.
1. Information covered by this policy
| Category | Examples and sources |
|---|---|
| Account and contact | Name, email, phone, password authentication records, roles and preferences provided by you; profile details supplied by an authorised login provider. |
| Commerce and payments | Cart contents, orders, delivery address, bids and auction outcomes, subscription tier, transaction references, payment status, refund/dispute history and payout details. Payment providers supply confirmations and fraud signals. |
| Seller and verification | Business/contact details, product listings, business registration and identity documents where required for onboarding, verification or legal obligations. |
| Content and communications | Uploaded photos, recordings, live video/audio, public profile or chat, support correspondence and moderation reports. |
| Device and usage | IP address, browser/device details, session and security events, cookie or local-storage identifiers, page/stream activity and technical logs. |
| Location | Country or approximate location inferred from IP or your selections; device geolocation only when the feature is used and permission is given. |
| Risk and compliance | Relevant transaction patterns, account links, abuse reports, verification results and information from sellers, payment providers or lawful public sources. |
Not every category is collected from every person. We collect information directly from you, through your interactions with the service, and from the identified counterparties. We do not require you to post private identity, financial or contact information in public chat. Do not submit another person's information without authority. Where we obtain information indirectly, we provide any additional notice required by law.
2. Why we process information
| Purpose | Basis where UK/EEA lawful-basis rules apply |
|---|---|
| Create accounts, provide requested features, arrange orders and subscriptions, fulfil support requests | Contract or steps at your request before a contract. |
| Keep the service secure, investigate abuse, resolve disputes, moderate content and improve reliability | Legitimate interests in a safe and functioning platform, balanced against your rights; legal obligation where applicable. |
| Accounting, tax, legally required verification, regulatory cooperation and recordkeeping | Legal obligation where the particular duty applies. |
| Optional marketing, non-essential tracking and permission-based location features | Consent where required; otherwise a lawful permitted basis with an available objection or opt-out. |
| Recommendations and service measurement | Legitimate interests for proportionate service functions; consent for tracking or profiling where required. |
Providing information needed for an account, transaction or legally required verification may be necessary to supply that feature. If you decline, we may be unable to complete it. Optional marketing consent or optional geolocation is not required to make an ordinary purchase where another lawful delivery/location method is available. When special-category or otherwise sensitive information is necessary, an additional lawful condition or notice will be used where required.
3. Public streams, profiles and messages
Listings, public profiles, bids displayed to participants, public chat and broadcasts may be visible to other users and, depending on the feature, visitors outside the platform. Live content may be recorded or later offered as recorded streams. Viewers can independently copy or share material; do not disclose information you wish to keep private. Support conversations are not intended as public chat, but may be accessed by authorised personnel to handle your request and maintain service integrity.
Removal from our service does not guarantee removal of copies already made lawfully by others or retained under an applicable legal exception. Contact us to request removal or exercise a right; we assess the request and explain relevant limitations.
4. Payments and recipients
Personal information may be shared with sellers and fulfilment partners for the relevant order; payment and payout providers for authorisation, settlement, refunds and fraud prevention; and providers of hosting, storage, video delivery, email/push messages, customer support, analytics, security and identity verification for their assigned functions. Relevant payment options are identified in the payment flow. Do not send full payment credentials through chat or ordinary email.
We disclose information to staff and service providers only for authorised purposes and subject to appropriate access controls and contractual obligations. Some providers must retain information or make decisions independently under payment or other laws. We may disclose information when legally required, to investigate fraud or protect rights and safety where lawful, or in a corporate transaction subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards. This does not authorise unrelated use of personal information.
5. Cookies, local storage and marketing
Cookies and similar browser storage support sessions, authentication, account preferences, security and cart functions. Browser settings can restrict or erase storage, which may sign you out or affect features. Optional analytics or advertising technologies require consent where applicable; they must not be activated on a consent-required basis before your choice. You can withdraw consent through the available preference control or contact us if you cannot find it. Browser local storage is subject to the same applicable rules for accessing or storing information on your device.
Marketing messages identify an unsubscribe method; you may also contact help@sokolive.live. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential order, security or service messages. We do not authorise personal information to be sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising without the notice and choices required by applicable law. If such processing is introduced, the relevant collection notice, opt-out route and applicable preference-signal handling must be provided before it occurs. This does not treat ordinary order fulfilment as advertising consent.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking account of applicable legal duties, open disputes, limitation periods, security needs and your choices. Retention varies by record category: account information is maintained while the relationship continues and for a justified closure period; transaction and financial records are retained for applicable tax/accounting and dispute periods; verification records for required compliance periods; and technical logs, chats and recordings for proportionate operational, moderation or evidentiary needs.
When a purpose expires, information is deleted, anonymised or otherwise put beyond active use, except where a lawful retention duty applies. A legal hold may suspend deletion of relevant records. Backup copies are subject to controlled retention and restricted use; restoration must not revive an expired use permission. Closing an account does not require immediate deletion of records that must lawfully be retained. You may ask us about the criteria relevant to your information.
7. International processing
An international transaction or service provider may involve access from or processing in a country different from yours. Applicable transfer rules determine the required protection. Where UK/EEA restricted-transfer rules apply, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as an applicable adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards with any necessary supplementary measures. A user's general use of the website is not a substitute for a required transfer safeguard. Ask legal@sokolive.live about relevant transfer arrangements and how to obtain information about safeguards, subject to lawful redactions.
8. Security and incident response
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including controls over access, authentication and service operations. No online service can promise absolute security. Protect your account and devices, use available two-factor authentication, and report suspected unauthorised use promptly. Where a personal-data breach triggers a legal notification duty, we notify the relevant authority and affected people in accordance with the applicable requirements. We will not ask for your password, one-time login code or wallet recovery phrase to process a privacy request.
9. Your rights and how to exercise them
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may request access, a copy, correction or deletion of information; restriction of processing; portability; or objection to processing, including certain profiling. You may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing and object to direct marketing. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions. We do not penalise you for exercising a protected privacy right.
Email legal@sokolive.live with the subject "Privacy request", the email associated with your account and a description of your request. We may seek proportionate verification or proof of an agent's authority and will not demand unrelated information. We respond within the applicable legal time limit, explain any permitted extension, and give reasons for a refusal and available review rights. UK/EEA requests are generally answered within one month; requests covered by applicable US state laws are generally answered within their statutory period, commonly 45 days.
Where a US state privacy law applies to our processing, its access, correction, deletion, portability, sensitive-data and sale/targeted-advertising opt-out rights apply to the extent provided by that law. Authorised agents may act where permitted. Legally recognised opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control where applicable, must be honoured for covered processing. If we deny a request and a statutory appeal is available, reply to legal@sokolive.live with "Privacy appeal"; we will review and explain further complaint options.
10. Automated risk decisions and recommendations
Transaction patterns and account activity may be assessed to detect fraud, rank recommendations or flag suspicious behaviour. These assessments can influence a review, hold or access restriction. You may contact us to explain your circumstances and request review of an adverse decision. Where the law restricts solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, we apply the required safeguards, including human intervention, an opportunity to express your view and contest the decision, unless a lawful exception applies. More specific information will be provided where required for a particular decision.
11. Children and external services
The platform is not directed to children under 13. Account creation and transactions are subject to the age and legal-capacity requirements in our Terms of Service. If you believe we have collected information from a child unlawfully, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action. A statement of age eligibility does not remove any child-protection duties that apply to us. External websites, social networks, sellers and independent payment services have their own notices; review those notices when you use their services.
12. Complaints, updates and contact
Please first raise a privacy concern with legal@sokolive.live so that we can investigate. You may also complain directly to the competent data-protection authority, including the authority where you live or work where applicable. Depending on jurisdiction this may include the UK Information Commissioner, an EEA supervisory authority, Ghana's Data Protection Commission or an applicable US state regulator. You need not waive regulator or court rights to use our support process.
We update this policy when material practices or legal requirements change and provide additional notice or obtain fresh consent where required. A later policy does not retrospectively authorise an incompatible use. The updated date appears above.
